Welcome Celeste!

Please help me welcome Celeste Portillo to our team. She was recruited by Veronica Lespron. Celeste, Vero and I all were on an ACTS retreat together in October. Celeste, please take a moment to introduce yourself to the group. If you need anything, please let me know. Welcome!

Party ideas

One of our team members, Veronica Lespron, called me today and had a great idea that she did at a party yesterday. She took some of the obvious scents (French Lavender, Lilacs & Violets, Cinnamon Bear, Lush Gardenia) and blindfolded her guests. They had to smell the scent and try to guess the name of it. She said everyone was laughing and having a really good time. This is a fantastic idea that you might want to try at your parties.

Something I did at a party over the weekend was have the guests smell the scent and not look at the name of it. I then had them rename their scent. It is funny to hear what some people come up with! One lady said that some of them smelt like Play-Do, Pepto Bismol, and Vicks! Remember to have fun and be creative.

Director!!

Thank you to my hard working team, I made director at the end of November. I am proud of all the hard work you guys are putting into your business. Our team continues to grow each month. Love to you all!

December meeting

Our December meeting is tomorrow, Monday, December 7th. It will be held at my house 2935 Lebanon (off of Piedras). This meeting is very informal and not much on the agenda. I just want to touch base with everyone and see how things are going. I will touch on basket parties and what to do at the beginning of the year. I will be giving gifts to everyone that is able to come. Hope to see you all there!

Welcome Tracey Payne and Lidia Guerrero

I am so sorry this is so late, but better late than never! Please give a warm welcome to our two newest members, Tracey Payne and Lidia Guerrero.

Tracey lives in Denton, Texas and happens to be my cousin. When I was in Dallas for the Scentsy World Tour, we got to talking and she decided to join immediately. She is having knee surgery right after Christmas and is going to be out of work for quite some time. Hopefully this business will help supplement her income and have some fun along the way! Welcome Tracey!

Lidia lives here in El Paso. She is a stay at home mom. She came to one of my parties and liked the concept and idea of Scentsy. She had to do a lot of convincing with her husband (which she never really did!) but decided to take the plunge anyway. Welcome Lidia!

Ladies, please take a moment to introduce yourself more to the rest of the team so we can get to know you. We are glad to have you onboard! Everyone is here to help, so please let us know if you have any questions or great ideas.

Welcome Vanessa Ponce

I would like to welcome Vanessa Ponce to our team! She lives in San Antonio, Texas and has a gorgeous 4 month old baby girl. Vanessa, please take a moment to introduce yourself to the rest of the team. I wish you the best of luck in your Scentsy business. I will be here for you every step of the way.

Skinny Dippin Travel Tin

In case you didn't get the email from Scentsy, the Skinny Dippin Travel Tin is being taken off temporarily. The scent is losing it's smell too quickly, so they are going to fix it. The Black Raspberry Vanilla Travel Tin is back and available to order.

If you had customers that have a Skinny Dippin Travel Tin on back order, they can either choose a new scent or receive a credit. Scentsy is give you a $15 credit for every travel tin you have on back order.

Fireplaces

I learned about a new idea from someone over the weekend. If you have a "real" fireplace, you can take the lint from your dryer to clean out the top of your warmers. Then throw the lint into the fireplace. The lint is a great fire starter and will also have the smell from the used wax from your warmer. Pass this on to your customers, they might like this idea too!

Shooting Star Enhancement Kit

For those of you that joined Scentsy between 9/20/09 and 10/31/09 are eligible to purchase the Shooting Star Enhancement Kit even if you haven't met the requirement (sell $5o0 in the first 15 days). These kits must be purchased by 11/30/09, so if you fall under this time frame and are interested in purchasing, I suggest you do it asap.

I know a couple of you were worried about which warmers you would receive due to the numerous backorders. Since most of the backorders are being shipped, I don't think this is an issue anymore.

To order the shooting star enhancement kit, email shootingstar@scentsy.com.

Welcome to the Team!

I am excited to announce that we have four new team members! Please help me welcome Alma Acevedo, Tracey Payne, Dolores Huante, and Lidia Lespron. Congratulations to Veronica on getting her first recruit (Lidia Lespron).

Ladies, please take a few moments to read over past blogs so you can get some new ideas as you start your business. Also, please introduce yourselves and tell us a little about you. As our team continues to grow, I am really hoping that more of you will become active on the blog so we can help each other.

Leaving for convention

Hi team!

I am leaving in the morning for the Scentsy World Tour in Dallas, Texas. I am extremely excited and know that I will bring back some great information as well as motivation!

I also wanted to let you all know in case you haven't seen already, the Heavenly warmer in the Holiday Collection is completely sold out. Please do not offer these to your customers. As far as I know, all other Christmas warmers are still available but on backorder. Be careful when you sell a holiday warmer to a customer. You always want to be upfront about them and let them know they are on backorder and will take longer to get than a ususal order. I don't want a first time customer to be upset because their order took over a month to come in.

I hope you all have a great weekend. I will be back on Tuesday. I am still going to be available on my cell phone (915) 433-5311 or via email kjcano@yahoo.com.

Ideas to get bookings

The best way to start selling Scentsy is to ask all of your family members to book parties. They are going to be excited to help you start your business. From them, you will meet so many people!

Have your husband or wife promote Scentsy at their work. My husband has a warmer at his office and has received so many orders from it. I change out the warmer every so often so people can see the different types of warmers and experience different scents. People in offices love these wickless candles because they are safe and able to be used during the workday.

Invest in a $5 name tag through Scentsy Success. I wear my name tag on a regular basis when I am out promoting my business. People notice it and will ask you what Scentsy is. I recently went to a local convenient store to take the kids use the restroom. The lady behind the counter inquired about Scentsy from my name tag, then proceed to tell me that she has heard about the product but never met anyone who sold it. She was excited about it and of course, so was I!

Know and study your products. People like to buy from people that are experienced and know what they are talking about. Take the time to learn everything you can about Scentsy.

Welcome Claudia!

Our team is growing so quickly, it is very exciting! Please welcome Claudia Freres to Team KC. Claudia, please take a minute to introduce yourself to the team. Tell us a little about yourself. I am happy to have you on board.

Don't forget that I am here to help each of you make your business as successful as possible.

Basket Parties

The most popular type of party is the traditional home party. I suggest that you all invest in at least one set of basket testers. You can purchase a full set of basket testers from Scentsy for $60. You can also make your own for cheaper. Michael's or Hobby Lobby sells small plastic jars, you can use your big party testers to create your basket testers. There is also another place that you can buy a full set of basket testers for $45 at http://etc4biz.ecrater.com.

To make your own, simply place your party testers in a crock pot with a little bit of water in the bottom. Melt the wax just enough to loosen it up (you do not need to melt the wax completely. Once the wax is melted a little bit, use a spoon or something similar to scoop out a little bit of the wax and place it in the smaller plastic jars. Place the labels on the jar and wa la, you have your basket testers. If you need help, just let me know.

Basket parties are a great way to let your hostess work for you on their own time and allows you more time to host other parties. I currently have three basket parties going at one time and have a waiting list.

Welcome to the Team!

I would like to welcome Matthew Pulley and Veronica Lespron to our team! Please take a minute to read the past posts and write a little bit about yourself so we can get to know you better. I do monthly training at my house and via phone for those of you that are out of town.

I would like to get everyone's input on our November meeting. Last meeting we had some scheduling conflicts, so I would like to try to set a time where everyone can make it. November is a very busy month with parties due to the holidays. I am not free on Saturday's and only free on one Friday, not to mention we have Thanksgiving coming up. How does a weekday evening look for you all. I am thinking about Thursday, November 19th at 7pm. What do you all think? If not, we can shoot for Tuesday, November 24th. Please let me know what works best for you all and I will try to work with it.

Great meeting

Thank you ladies for coming to the training meeting tonight. For those of you that couldn't make it, you should have received the training information via email. There are several items that I didn't get to touch on, so I will be posting them on the blog hopefully this week. I want to help keep you all motivated and help you in any way possible. I hope you guys enjoyed yourselves.

Congratulations Sarah on placing your first order!!! Almost $200 order and she hasn't even received her kit yet! Keep it up. Just remember to try to get all the information you can on your customers so you can follow up with them. Once they receive their warmer, it is a great idea to give them a call and ask them how they like it. Chances are, they will LOVE it. This is a perfect opportunity for you to tell them that by hosting a party, they can get free products as well as items at 1/2 off. Always be on the lookout for potential hostesses.

Thank you all for your hard work.

Christmas warmers

Have you all seen the new Christmas warmers? They are gorgeous and I think will sell! The brochures are available on October 15th and sales begin November 1st. My suggestion is to get them to all of your customers and potential customers as soon as possible. They are going to go fast, just like the pumpkin warmers did. You might want to keep some in stock to sell as cash and carry when you visit potential customers. Let's make this a great end of the year!!!

New website and monthly training

The new site is up and running. There are still a few glitches, but for the most part, it is AWESOME! I would like to get together with each one of you on a monthly basis. During these meetings, I would like for us to get to know each other, share what has worked for us, and give you information on upcoming events and products. What day works best for all of you. Shan, I realize you are out of town, so I am working on setting up a web conference so you can join in. Let me know what you all think.

New workstation training

I hope that all of you were able to join in one of the five conference calls today for the new workstation training. I just got off the last training call of the day and have a little bit of information for you.

The new workstation is going to be awesome! It seems very user friendly and will benefit us in the long run. It will be available to us as of tomorrow, October 1st (my birthday! LOL!) at 8am. They suggested that you save all of your contacts tonight in an Excel spreadsheet just to have a backup. They will be transferred to the new system, but anytime there is data transfer, things could get lost.

I have said this before, but if you haven't downloaded Silverlight, you need to do so ASAP.

Some new changes as of October 1st are as follows:
Scentsy will now pay you with a paycard instead of via check.

The $5 booking fee that we pay, is no longer in effect. As soon as you use all of the hostess 1/2 items, the booking fee will disappear! Also, booking rewards is different. You will see an additional 1/2 price item on every order in replacement of the booking rewards. You can use this however you want. It might get a little confusing, but once you put an order in, you will see how it works.

Please check out the new website and let me know what you think. Call or email me with any questions you have. I can come over and walk you through the new system.

Info from directors call

You all should have received an email from our director Lindsey. If you didn't, please take a moment to read the important information below. Great job team!!

Hello to my Wonderfully Amazing Team!

I hope you are all doing well! This could be a long but very important email (hopefully not to overwhelming) . I just got off the Director call and need to share....

First of all: Welcome to the Busy Season!

There is so much changing with Scentsy this week that Orville says the next few days will be the Most Eventful EVER with the new website & workstation, Canada launch, NCAA warmer launch, etc... These changes are going to make things so much better!
OK
Jack O Lantern warmers-they are back ordered big time! You can still order them for $27, HOWEVER, your customers will not get them until late November. I personally am not even offering them anymore.
NCAA Warmers-will be available Oct. 1. Currently there are only 3 schools participating (Boise State, University of Utah and Brigham Young) but Scentsy will be adding schools as fast as possible. There are 2 styles for each school. Check out the flyer in the Business Builders tab.

November Monthly Specials, Holiday Plug-ins and Warmers! Yeah! They will be posted on Oct. 1st on the new workstation in the resource section for you to see. There are 4 holiday plug-ins and several warmers (not sure how many several is but I'm super excited) We can purchase flyers (don't know if we can download them?) starting on Oct. 15th. I'm also not sure what exactly we will be getting if we subscribe to the warmer of the month-I'll see if I can find that out.

Tour Stops - I strongly Encourage you to check the News and Events tab of the work station and get to a tour stop if one is coming anywhere near your town!! In November there is one in Dallas and I can't wait! It is undoubtedly worth your time and money!

Paycards- We are currently paid our commission on the 10th of the month and sent a check via snail mail. Beginning with our October commissions, we will be paid using a pay card system. Look for your paycard to arrive in the mail the week of 10/26 along with important information. It will be a Scentsy/Visa card and work like a debit card.

Canada - With the launch of the new software on Oct. 1st, we will be able to sponsor Canadian consultants after signing up with Scentsy Canada. This is very Exciting! I'm not going to go into it here, but if you have ?'s, call me.

NEW SOFTWARE TRANSITION - This is the Big One!- Beginning Oct. 1 we will have a new Consultant Website/Workstation . IT IS GOING TO BE SOOOO AWESOME!! I understand that change is not always easy, but I PROMISE you it is going to be so worth it to us and our customers!! I encourage all of you to get some training on this to make the transition easier. We will be getting an email with training times and the subjects that will be covered during these trainings that will begin on Wednesday, Sept. 30th. There will be webinars covering editing our personal websites & order entry on Wednesday, party manager/party assistant and enrolling new consultants on Thursday, and accounts & resources on Friday. These webinars will be recorded (I'm sure) for our convenience.

Scentsy will be posting a website tomorrow that we all need to check out. It is transition.scentsy. com .

Things we can do to get ready:
1.Get your September orders in ASAP! Please don't wait until the last minute because you may lose your orders. Orville suggested by noon on 9/30. Same thing goes for any events you have set up on your current website. Our current websites will be disabled for ordering around midnight MST. You will still be able to access your 'old' website in a view only mode to check order history, commissions and downline reports.

2. Pay attention and watch for email communication from Scentsy! Don't want you to miss something important! And get some training at least on placing orders. You don't have to know everything the first day.

3. Download the silverlight application now. You all should have gotten an email from Scentsy with this info. If not, let me know and I can forward it to you. FYI, currently you can not download silverlight on your iphone. Scentsy is aware of this and is looking into iphone applications. One good thing about our new software is that it can be changed, adjusted, tweaked and improved upon!

4. Be patient, this is going to be a process. Our workstation will populate immediately but our website (where customers can place online orders and potential recruits can sign up) could take up to 72 hours to go live. This is due to the refreshing of the internet, nothing Scentsy can do about it. Also, all of our info (customer info and everything else) will have to be transitioned over a period of time. They can't switch it all at once.

Booking Rewards and $5 Hostess Fee - Scentsy is doing away with the exhausting process we currently use to redeem booking awards-yeah! !
Basically, every party order($150 or more) we submit on the new workstation will have an available booking award(half price item) to use as we wish. And the $5 hostess reward fee that is currently applied to all party orders will be waived as long as all half price and booking rewards are redeemed. THIS IS FABULOUS!

Scentsy is such a blessing in my life. I am so excited that you all are on this journey with me! There will be some confusion and we will all have lots of questions. Let's enjoy the journey and ride this wave!!

And now the INCREDIBLE monthly numbers! (those of you who have been around a while know that I really like this part )
Through Sunday, September 27th
SALES
2009 $11,050,000
2008 $ 4,013,984 275% growth!

RECRUITS
2009 4701
2008 1742 270% growth!
Oh, and that doesn't include the 251 consultants that signed up TODAY!!
Much appreciation for all that you do!!!
Lyndsee BatesSuperstar Director

Update on new workstation

In order to place orders on the new workstation, you will need to download Silverlight from Microsoft. You can log onto your Scentsy website and download it directly from there. If you have any problems or questions, please let me know as soon as possible so this does not delay placing any orders. Thanks for your patience during this transition.

Update on Jack o Lantern Warmers

In case you didn't receive the email from Scentsy today, the pumpkin warmers are once again sold out! Your customers can still order them for 10% off through the end of September, but orders placed after this morning, will not be received until the end of November. Please let your customers know about this backorder.

Please read this article about air freshners and sprays

Melanie found this article about the dangers of air freshners and sprays. Please take a minute to read it. This is a great marketing tool for our SAFE wickless candles. I suggest you print this out and share with your customers and potential customers. Thanks for sharing Melanie!

New workstation

You all should have received an email from Scentsy about the new workstation. As of October 1st, you will no longer be able to place orders from your old workstation. All events and existing orders will need to be closed out prior to the end of the month in order to not be lost. They will NOT transfer over to the new workstation. It is best to get all September orders closed, entered, and submitted to Scentsy home office on September 29th to avoid any trouble. If you have any questions or need any help, please feel free to let me know.

Welcome Shannon!

Ladies, our team is continuing to grow. Please welcome Shannon to Scentsy and to Team KC. Shannon, please take a moment to introduce yourself and ask any questions you may have. We are all here to help each other be successful in our Scentsy business. Good luck!

Month is winding down

September is coming to an end. Try to get all of those last minute orders in so you can receive the credit in the month of September. Email everyone you know, post it on your facebook accounts and anywhere else you can think of. It is also a great time to check with existing customers to see if they need additional scents. Keep up the great work team!

Congrats Melanie!

Melanie placed a $500 order today!! Way to go Mellie! Keep up the good work and use those room sprays to your advantage. Please share your room spray stories with the rest of the team. Keep up the great work everyone.

Welcome Sarah!

Ladies, we have a new member of Team KC! Please help me welcome Sarah Saldivar. Our team continues to grow and flourish. Sarah, please take a minute to introduce yourself and tell everyone a little about you. Like I mentioned to you this evening, this blog is set up to give you little tips to help your business succeed. Please feel free to post things that you have tried that work well for you. We are so happy to have you on board.

Feedback

Ladies, let me know how things are going. What has been working for you and what hasn't. I talked to Melanie today and she said she sprayed the Camu Camu room spray in an elevator and by the time she got off, she had three people that wanted to place an order. This is a great idea! Does anyone else have any great tips they can share with us? Remember we are all here to help each other make our business a success.

Let your warmers work for you

It would be a great idea to have a traveling warmer. Contact doctors offices, restaurants, gyms, salons and anywhere else there is high traffic and ask them if you can leave a warmer with them for a week. Leave cards by the warmer so that people can call you to get a warmer of their own. Scentsy Success sells a display stand that holds your business cards and will advertise your Scentsy in any office. I highly recommend getting these if you plan on having a traveling warmer. They are only $3 each.

Share the Scent

If you subscribe to the scent of the month and are wondering what to do with those Scentsy bricks you receive, I have a fabulous idea for you! Buy candy molds at Hobby Lobby or Michaels, burn the wax and then pour them into the candy molds. In a small plastic bag (also found at Hobby Lobby & Michael's), place a business card, a small sample of the scent of the month, and a small piece of paper with the name of the scent and a disclaimer that it is a wax sample, do not eat, in the plastic bag. Hand these out to everyone you encounter on a daily basis. Give them with your tips, to the people at Starbucks, the people at your children's school, grocery store, cleaners, mommy's groups, etc. People love anything free and will be willing to try it out.

Scent of the Month

I strongly suggest you subscribe to the Scent of the Month. For just $35 per month, you will receive approximately 10 days before the first of the month, 6 scentsy bars, one scentsy brick, one room spray, one tester, one basket tester and flyers for the scent of the month. You can also subscribe to the warmer and scent of the month for $60 per month. This allows you to market the new scent over a week before it is available to order.

Ladies, please feel free to post your comments

I have set this blog up for all of us to share and learn. If you have found something that works for you or doesn't work for you, please share with all of us.

One thing that I have started doing is offering gift cards to my customers. This makes it easier for people that want to buy as gifts but not sure of the warmer/scents to purchase for the receiver. I have also been tracking everyone's birthday and anniversary (if applicable) and sending them a $5 gift certificate for Scentsy products. This is completely your choice, but the way I see it is if you give them $5, chances are they will purchase more than $5 worth of merchandise. This also shows them that you care about them enough to remember their special days.

My Scentsy tips for the weekend are as follows:

1) Have your husband promote Scentsy at their work. My husband has a warmer at his desk and has recevied many orders just because the warmer is "manly" and it smells great. Don't forget that even men like this product.

2) Set goals and review them constantly. If you are in the business to pay one or two certain bills, remind yourself of that. If you are in it for spending money, again, remind yourself of your goals and why you are in the business. It will help you to attain your goals faster.

I hope you all have a great weekend. I will be in touch soon.

Feeling refreshed

I decided to take the weekend off from work to spend it with my family. I hope you all had a great holiday weekend. I feel refreshed and am ready to hit it hard this week.

Scentsy will send you an email on the hits you have received on your website. Take this information and use it to your benefit. I normally email or call everyone that has viewed my website. You need to make sure to enter everyone's contact information to include their email address on your website from the beginning so that it is easier on you in the long run. It takes some time to get setup, but I guarantee it will be helpful later. Today I spent my morning emailing and following up with the leads from my site.

How is the challenge going? Have you all been talking to at least 10 people a day about Scentsy? Do you have any questions that I can help you with? Have you found anything that works well for you so far? Please share with all of us so we can all be successful.

Have a great week!

Ways to obtain bookings and new customers

Today I went to Milan Salon because my cousin is a hairdresser there and wanted to smell the new fall/winter scents. I took a basket with brochures, Scentsy bars, business cards, and one warmer. I had it on her station while we were talking. Several people came up to me and asked me what I was selling. I sold $75 worth of products and gave two other people brochures. It is that easy! It is just a matter of showing the product, people will buy it.

I am going to email out a list of 101 ways to obtain bookings for you all to use. I am going to post one or two things on the blog everyday and would like you guys to try them out. Let me know if it is something you would do, and if you do it, let me know how it works out for you. For tomorrow and the coming week, try this...

1. When mailing out your bill payments or anything via mail, put your business card and Scentsy flyer in with the payment. Receptionists are normally the ones opening these payments and will most likely be interested in checking out your website and products.

2. Take a basket (similar to what I did at the salon) with you everywhere. Chances are at least one person will be interested and therefore make it worth your while.

I also have a challenge for you. Starting tomorrow, Saturday, September 5th, until the following Saturday, September 12th, I challenge to you to talk about Scentsy to at least 10 people per day, therefore, 70 people for the week. Let me know how it goes.

Our team is growing

As of today, we now have three members of our team. Please welcome Liz Gonzalez and Melanie Jordan. I look forward to working with you all to make your business as successful as possible. I hope this blog will help all of us to stay in communication with each other. Remember we are all here to help each other grow our businesses. If you have any ideas or suggestions, please feel free to let me know.

I suggest that each of you host a grand opening to introduce your Scentsy business to all of your friends and family. Take cards and brochures with you everywhere. Talk about Scentsy with everyone you encounter. Pass out cards when you pick up your kids from school, pick up drying cleaning, go to doctor appointments, dentist appointments, the grocery store, EVERYWHERE! People naturally love candles and will fall in love with Scentsy. I was at Sam's today and the lady in front of me in the check out line was buying a huge package of Glade plugins. I took the opportunity to give her my card and a brochure. She was very receptive and loved what Scentsy had to offer. We can save people money by sharing our products with others.
